Hi all,
I have been recording some videos of books to share with my class as part of their daily timetable. Parents have suggested that I share these on Facebook, so please see below the links to the chapters so far. I will aim to ‘release’ a chapter on the Facebook page each day. Occasionally there may be additional picture books. If you have any requests, please leave a comment.
Best wishes,
Mr Jones
Authors’ 10 Minute Challenges
A collection of authors have gathered together to create a range of ’10-minute challenges’ related to books of every kind. Can you make your own monsters? battle an evil witch? or bring household objects to life?
Enjoy these short videos full of inspirational ideas and activities which will engage those creative brain cells! We would love to see what fabulous creations you have made!
Oak National Academy
Oak National Academy
The Oak National Academy is a website, similar to BBC Bitesize, in that it is a resource bank full of lessons, presentations and activities. Your children’s teachers may choose to refer to this in your recommended weekly timetable. Feel free to browse the website for lessons beyond those we send home, following your child’s interests.
Each ‘lesson’ comes with quizzes, instructional videos and activities to go alongside. These activities are not necessarily interactive, so having a pencil and paper to hand will be helpful! The lessons have been prepared by teachers around the country, so the style and content of each lesson will vary between year groups and subjects.
The National Academy has three options for using it:
- Following links provided by your teacher in your weekly timetable if this is their recommended resource.
- Following the daily schedule from the National Academy website for your year group. If you are choosing your own working style, this may provide an alternative structure.
- Searching by subject for lessons and activities that capture your children’s interests. If you are choosing to do your own curriculum, this can still be used as a more open-ended resource for ideas.
Whichever way you choose to use this resource, we hope it helps you all at home.
Stay safe,
DLPS
