Marrick Priory Residential Visit

Day 1:
The children have had a fantastic first day at Marrick Priory Outdoor Education Centre! After a thankfully uneventful journey, the children arrived full of excitement, eager to begin and were soon heading out for their first main activity. Throughout the visit, the children work in one of three groups. On their first day, each group took part in a mix of activities including: Rock Climbing, Abseiling, High Ropes, Zip Lining and Archery. After all the exercise and excitement, the children then had to undertake possibly their most challenging task of the week… making their own beds! Surprisingly, they took to this challenge with great enthusiasm and were soon enjoying a well-earned rest and some free time before their evening meal. After their evening food, everyone headed back out for their final activity of the day, a team building challenge where the children worked together to complete an outdoor obstacle course in complete darkness. Finally, it was time for PJ’s, slippers and a quick quiz as per residential tradition before bed and a well-earned rest!

Day 2:
On day two of our visit to Marrick Priory, the children were up bright and early, ready to take on some new challenges. After a big breakfast, the children were eager to get started and were soon off out on their first activity – canoeing, the dreaded zipwire and archery. The children had a great time testing their skills and in some cases, also conquering their fears! It was a quick lunch back at the centre before the children headed back out again for more activities including abseiling, low ropes and more climbing. Once everyone had made it back to Marrick, it was time for a well-earned rest and much needed showers. Everyone greatly enjoyed their evening meal once again which even resulted in a very long line for seconds. Afterwards, the children finished off their evening roasting marshmallows around the camp fire and playing campfire games.

Day 3:
On the final day of our visit to Marrick Priory, the children had an early start helping each other to pack up their cases, tidy their rooms and strip their beds. Once everyone was ready, they had another hearty breakfast before heading out for their final day of activities. The children had great fun undertaking their final challenges such the low ropes, Jacob’s ladder and the leap of faith. Everyone showed a solid determination and a growing confidence in their own abilities with many children trying out activities that they wouldn’t have even considered earlier in their visit. There was just enough time for a quick lunch before saying goodbye to Marrick Priory for the final time and heading off to the bus to return journey.

A huge well done to all the children who took part in the visit. They have all been absolute superstars throughout and a pleasure to take away. We very much hope that everyone will take away some very special memories and remember the magical moments they created together for many years to come!
