This year our boys and girls teams have again been taking part in the Derwentside Primary School Football Leagues which take place in the Autumn term for the girls and the Autumn and Summer terms for the boys. The level of competition has again been very high this year and all the children have had a fantastic time competing against other local primary schools.
Girls Football Team
The girls finished their 2018-19 season in a fantastic 2nd position. This was the first experience of girls football for many of this year’s team and they performed fantastically throughout, working very well as a team. They were extremely unlucky to miss out on the top spot, going unbeaten all season, and were just 1 point off the league leaders. Well done to all the girls who took part, they should be very proud of their efforts this year. They have displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout and have been a great credit to our school.
Boys Football Team
The boys had an excellent start to the season, winning the Davison Cup and representing Derwentside in the Daniel O’Hare Trophy for the first time in Delves Lane history. In the league they narrowly missed out in several games towards the start of the season but finished the season strongly in the Summer Term winning almost all of their league fixtures. They also finished in 4th place this season, only 3 points of the second spot! They have remained superb ambassadors for our school throughout working fantastically together as a team and demonstrating some fantastic football.
