This week a group of children from Year 5 and Year 6 have been competing in the County Durham Athletics Finals at Shildon Athletics Stadium. These children were selected to represent Derwentside, alongside children from various local schools, from qualifiers which took place earlier in the year. The Finals event is a fantastic opportunity to experience structured competitive sport and complete against children from all across Durham County. As expected, the level of competition is very high and all the children performed fantastically on the day. They were excellent representatives of the Derwentside area and had great fun competing in front a crowd of spectators. A huge well done to all the children who took part and congratulations to Tiarna (60m Hurdles) and David (Javelin) who both won their individual events to become the first ever County Champions from Delves Lane Primary!
